A word of warning about firmware upgrades. There was a bug that was affecting the firmware upgrade procedure prior to firmware version 2.38; if the device receives a video request while in the process of upgrading the firmware, the upgrade will fail after erasing the firmware, which can only be fixed at our office. To avoid this, before attempting to upgrade the network camera or video server, it is recommended that you follow these
steps:
1. Load the factory default settings.
2. Ensure that the Event Script is stopped.
3. Ensure that no one will send a video request while upgrading the firmware.
The best way to do this is to connect to the device directly with a crossover cable, or through a hub that is only being used by the host PC and the device.
Failing that, you could set the host PC and the device on a separate subnet.
