Background The customer, College UiTM, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, installed 4 IP Cameras at the campus guard house and the video is streamed back to the control room via a point-to-point IP wireless solution because of the distance and difficulty to lay new cables. The wireless solution was unstable due to environmental factors, the customer requested for a more stable solution.
Implementation To solve the problem EKTECH used the IP Extender solutions to replace the wireless solution without laying any extra cable. The solution utilizes the existing guard house phone line to stream all 4 camera videos, sharing at the same time the existing voice line without any problem. The IP Extender was connected to both ends of the cable and the problem was solved immediately.
Technology PM112 can use coaxial cable or the telephone line (Twist Pair) as the transmission medium. Therefore, for those areas having existed wires (original analog surveillance), as long as installing PM112 there is no requirement for camera transmission wires or re-wiring. Regarding to system integrators, it not only makes wiring more convenient, but saves time and cost.
