Case Study - Large Community
Due to the inflation in raw materials and many other things in our life, construction contractors and system integrators will consider all factors and find all means that can help to reduce the cabling cost as well as the construction time. The goal is to increase the users' will to use IP surveillance cameras.

We introduce the Pixord PMC600 modules, its purpose is to solve video transmission and power supply problem over long distance. Picture 1 shows the application of PMC600. PMC comes with a pair, the local module can get the power supply (AC) from the control center and pass on to the remote module through twisted-pair cable. Meanwhile the remote module will convert power to 112V2.5A for IP camera usage.

One of the key features of PMC600 is that both video and power can be transmitted simultaneously through the same twisted pair cable. This way will reduce the extra cabling cost and construction time. Moreover, even though digital signal and power are transmitted through the same cable, the quality will not be interfered by the noise from the power.

Below is the successful case study for PMC600. Picture 2 is a snapshot of a large community taken from a satellite. The goal is to get all surveillance cameras images back to the control center and the furthest location from the control room is 1400 meters. The expenditure spent will be mostly on the transmission/power cablings and the construction in this project. In addition, how are we going to plan for wiring the cables and the setting up of power supply throughout the community? (Community has already setup 10 pairs of twisted-pair cables from control center to cable box near residential).

According to the cabling selection and power supply issues, we come up with some options.

Choice of transmission cables
Fiber
Is a good choice for long distance transmission; however it is also the most expensive method. Construction and wiring is required which is also time consuming.
Twisted-pair Can work with PMC600 module which also has long distance transmission advantages. Be able to make use of the existing 10 pairs of twisted-pair cables in the community to save construction cost and wiring time.

Power supply issue
Use of PoE (Does not suggest)
Transmission distance is restricted to 100 meters.
Need waterproof box for the switches connecting the PoE in series.
Hard to maintain and not effective
Use Power supply from the lamp post
Have to adjust the time for power supply

Conclusion
There is high probability that you will encounter power supply issue when setting up the surveillance cameras, sometimes might even have to change the setup point. There is no such problem when using PMC600, you are able to decide any suitable setup points for the cameras. It can conveniently save the cabling time and number of cables used, in turns lower the cost for the whole project.
