03
 Scenario: Multi-branch Operations
Traditional video surveillance systems are closed-circuit, which means that the CCTV cameras require a direct connection to a monitor. This type of a system does not adapt well to the needs of companies that have offices or factories in multiple locations but need to know what is happening at each of the locations. With the advent of the Internet, the TCP/IP protocol, and Network Cameras and Video Servers, the needs of these companies can be met.
Required Functionality:
This system requires the digital transmission of video over an Internet connection. In addition to standalone Network Cameras, it can make use of pre-existing equipment by connecting traditional CCTV cameras to Video Servers. Using network digital video equipment, video is broadcast over the Internet, making it possible to view and/or record from any PC with an Internet connection and a Web browser.
The ability to monitor, record and view recorded video clips must be available to both local and remote users.
The system has to be able to interface well with other security equipment in order to provide a more complete security solution.

System Efficiency:
Networks, be it a Local Area Network (LAN) / intranet or the Internet, eliminate boundaries, making communication across multiple locations possible.
Digital video feeds offer an even wider range of functionality than traditional analog feeds. Picture quality and size can be configured differently under various conditions. Motion detection can be configured to send notifications of activity or to record only during periods of activity. In this manner it is possible to make better use of storage space and to search video archives for specific times and events.
Video Servers can be used in conjunction with a variety of control and/or alarm systems, such as fire alarms, and entry control systems etc. They can be configured to send notification of events via E-mail or FTP or to start/stop recording when an event occurs.
When cameras are fitted with PTZ devices, Video Servers provide users with complete control of the device - Panning, Tilting, and Zooming - from remote locations over an Internet connection.
